I have started a Pinterest board with inspiration for smaller, ‘book’ based works. This functions in the same way as multiple surfaces, ‘pages’ but hopefully will allow me to create and transport pieces for easily.

There is certainly a muted and almost monochrome colour scheme in the images I have sourced so far. I am also getting really interested in apertures – physical holes through and drawn imaginary spaces and portals. I hadn’t realised until recently that this links back to the piece I made for the sketchbook project. However, these apertures were less linked throughout the sketchbook and I would like there to be a continuity between the pages like narrative strands and traces.

The piece here reminds me slightly of Francesca Woodman’s contact sheets, combined with the inscribing of her body in the space.
